Key Office Holders

President Mohd Rasi Bin Taib

Mohd Rasi Bin Taib embarked on his career with SMRT as a Technical Officer at the Rolling Stock Workshop in 1991. In 1992, he joined NTWU as an ordinary branch member, under the then SMRT Employees’ Union. However, it was not until 2002 when his journey in the Labour Movement formally began. Mohd Rasi was spotted by the then SMRTEU’s President Mohd Yunos, who recognized his immense potential and encouraged him to take up leadership position within the union. In 2002, Mohd Rasi stood for the elections which he received strong ground support by his fellow workers to represent the Maintenance Branch of SMRT Rail. It was then that his union career took flight.

While the length of his service with NTWU might be short as compared to other union officials, the two terms in which he served as a Branch Committee member helped lay a strong foundation for his current endeavor as NTWU’s President. Determined to serve the members better, shortly after assuming office as the President of NTWU, Mohd Rasi successfully obtained his Diploma in Employment Relations. He currently sits in the National Trade Union Congress Central Committee.

Being a man of great perseverance, Mohd Rasi is determined to bring NTWU to greater heights by achieving breakthroughs in leadership and membership.
